Natural Latex Bed Topper

natural latex topper on someone else's mattress
So, we had finally received our all-cotton, flame retardant-free, king size mattress.  Finally, we could all be in bed comfortably.  Well, sort of.  Sean could lay on his back, I could roll around, and Lily could spread eagle without hitting either of us.  But, Sean's back and neck took a beating from the extreme firmness of the cotton mattress.  I mean, it was really like laying on a piece of wood.  We went back to the White Lotus website to purchase a topper for our bed.  But, they said they were out of stock until the end of June.  Boo.  Sean started sleeping on the futon in the library to get relief.

Distraught from not being able to be woken up by a happy, pokey baby in the morning, he purchased a natural latex topper.  It is surprisingly firm, and it has yielded me the most comfortable three nights of sleep in months.

As described on Amazon:
All natural latex topper with medium firmness (24-28 ILD) 2 Inch thick. All natural latex toppers made from eco-harvested rubber tree with medium firmness 2 Inch thick. It is made of Dunlop process to ensure that it is all natural (Talalay process latex usually has 20-50% synthetic latex)

Adds a layer of comfort and support with purity associated with organic products. No chemical additives. Sleep well with no fear of toxic off gassing.

Yay for no off gassing!  Organic baby approved.

  1. Many are confused about the Talalay latex process. Latex International, based in the US, manufacturers both 100% natural Talalay (very limited quantity, much harder to make) and blended Talalay latex.

Most of the confusion comes from online sellers who "greenwash" by calling the blended Talalay "natural" latex (as it has both natural and synthetic latex). Look for Oeko-Tex certifications that show 100% natural latex has been tested.
