Baby Altar

Before the baby is even born, we can start to draw our spirituality into that birth.  Of course, these beliefs and practices come out in the choices that we make in our birth plan.   I created a baby altar to further our connection with the baby.  It is a place where I pray for the baby to be healthy and happy.  I've placed items from my childhood there, including some of my baby shoes, my baby pictures, and something to mark my ancestors.  I included the flowers that Sean gave me when I first moved in with him.  I also included our kids ritual wands that Sean and I helped the little ones make at last year's Pagan Pride Day.  We both meditate with the baby before we go to sleep, and I spend time during the day rubbing my tummy and telling Baby Bennett how much we love him or her.  And, I often try to cradle the baby in my womb as I fall asleep.  But, putting together an altar for our baby is another way we can connect with the amazing person that will be our child.
