Dance Party

Lily loves a dance party.  LOVES. DANCE. PARTY.  She's been so fussy these past few days, I don't know what she wants to do.  Maybe she wants something new.  Something not in the room.  Or in the house.  Or on our street.  So, we turn up the music and start moving.  She used to not care about the music.  But now, when I turn on the music, she gets very excited.  She knows it's about to be EPIC DANCE PARTY!

Then, all of a sudden last night, we had a break through.  More of this same not knowing what she wants.  She kept wanting the remote control.  I thought she wanted to push buttons and watch what that did on the TV, but that wasn't it.  I thought she wanted to play the I'm-gonna-drop-it-and-you're-gonna-hold-me-while-I-pick-it-up-game (not my favorite).  That wasn't it either.  She didn't want to nurse.  She kept screaming and getting more and more upset while throwing the remote down.  It was as if she was frustrated because she couldn't get the remote to do what she wanted to do.

"What could she possibly want the remote to do?" I asked myself.  Duh, Mommy!  DANCE PARTY!  She was trying to tell me she wanted a DANCE PARTY!  I put on the music, she was immediately happy, and we danced until she fell asleep 10 minutes later one happy baby.
